Online Learning Tips for Japanese Language

Japanese language has been in existence in this world for a long time. Though it has been suitably modified according to the changing times, the basics of the language still remain the same. Although the language is not that difficult to learn, the catch in it is the script. There are different scripts in this language and that makes it interesting to study for those who love studying various languages.
The best way to study any language is to show interest in it. Any language needs a lot of practice and strong basics. These basics are listening skills, speaking skills, reading and writing skills and of course, sound knowledge of the grammar of that particular language.
The best way to learn Japanese online is to concentrate on two things – the grammar rules that are to be followed, and the phonetics that are to be heard very carefully. These two things make the language an easy task to study.
Pronunciations of words are also important to learn, as they help in getting a hang of the language. You might also take the help of someone who knows that language or who is studying the same with you and practice speaking and listening skills.
This language has many dialects. But the most commonly used dialect is the Tokyo dialect. So, you need to confirm which dialect you are studying before you start your training in this language.
Try to read different Japanese articles and blogs. These can be easily available online and you can start off with reading the basic material available. Reading will help you improve your vocabulary that will give you great training of the language.
You can start studying the language by making small sentences. This language is an easy one if you do not compare it with English. The sentence construction of this language is unlike English that makes it difficult for a novice to study this language. Hence, they take the help of romanji – using roman letters to write Japanese. But this is not the correct way to study this language as advised by experts. It is very important to study that scripts (katakana, hiragana and kanji) and then learn and write Japanese.
The best way to form sentences is to conjugate the verbs properly and then use the correct conjugated form in the sentence. So, go ahead, learn Japanese.

Short Japanese Phrases — Language Learning Guide

When you are on a visit to Japan and you wish to learn Japanese the best way to master the language is to learn some basic Japanese sentences and sentence structure. You can then learn some common words, vocabulary that can help you in forming simple sentences. The Japanese system of writing is broken into 3 parts: Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji. Hiragana is used to spell Japanese words using syllables.
Japanese sentence structure is not very complicated. Many meanings can be conveyed in simple and short sentences. The order of the parts of the speech is not important in Japanese sentences. But, in English language the order of the words are crucial. In Japanese the word order is flexible. This is possible since each noun has a corresponding particle that shows the relationship to the noun. For example “ga”, “wa” are few of the markers in Japanese language that indicate the role of the noun. You need to contemplate the meaning and the role of these particles. This is the key to learning the language. You need to know how they are used in the sentences.
When you formulate question sentences, it is vital to pick the right question words. The Japanese language has lot of question words. In English, you can construct questions by attaching prepositions like “why”, “how”. In Japanese you can use where to- doko ni, with doko basically means where.
After you understand picking up the exact question word, you go a step ahead and you create a question. The word “ka” is used at the end of the sentence to signify that it is a question. When you change the sentence in to an interrogative sentence, an easy way is to attach “ka” at the end of the sentence after the Verb.
When you learn to structure the Japanese sentence, you need to remember that the Japanese language has a system called honorifics. These are essential levels of politeness. While you speak to someone who is of lesser, greater or equal rank as compared to you, then the sentence changes. The grammatical structure may be the same. It depends on whom you are talking to.
Some Japanese phrases:

1.    “Yo-ro-sh-ku o-neh-gai-shi-mus.”
This phrase is magic and “yoroshiku” means “please do your best and treat me good” This is not the literal translation. “Onegaishimasu” is similar to please.

2.    “Hon-toe ni oh-ee-shee des yo!”
It means something like “It is really delicious”
Hontou ni means “really”

How To Prepare for JLPT Exam

Japanese language as we all know is a little difficult learn, understand speak and write. However, if you like the language then you will not face many problems memorizing it. There are some competitive exams for Japanese language held almost all over the world which checks the proficiency level of the students. The proficiency level is checked in all the fields like learning, reading, understanding, listening and writing. These exams are called as the Japanese language proficiency tests or in short the JLPT exams.

A person who is learning Japanese should appear for the JLPT exams as they help in further acquiring a career related to this language. There are five levels of this exam namely N5, N4, N3, N2 and N1. The basic level is N5 and the difficulty level starts increasing as the levels increase. The N1 level is the most difficult which needs lots of studies, concentration, hard work, efforts and sincerity. The person who wishes to appear for the N1 level needs to study for at least 12 hours every day.

The JLPT exams are held twice a year for N3, N2 and N1 levels whereas N4 and N5 levels they take place only once a year. The exams are conducted in the months of December and June every year. As the exams are round the corner one should know how to prepare for them appropriately without wasting any time. You should also decide upon the suitable method which helps you memorize the syllabus quickly and correctly.
The main sections of the exam are vocabulary, kanji, reading, grammar and listening. It is always a good habit to make a timetable and divide your studies in suitable hours. As far as vocabulary is concerned you should memorize it for 30 minutes every day. Many people follow the method of reading vocabulary before going to bed. Kanji is one of the basic and most important parts while you learn Japanese. As kanji is a pictorial script it has minute differences but is very important. This is because one minute change in a stroke changes the entire meaning of the given kanji. Therefore to remember each and every kanji thoroughly you should write them every day. Another important aspect about kanji is that you will observe many kanjis have similar or same readings but their meanings are completely different. Hence when you write the kanji you should also write its readings and meanings as many times as possible to get a good command on them.

People who learn Japanese as a foreign language should try and listen to the native Japanese conversations as frequent as possible. The Japanese people have a very different accent from what we hear from our teachers and seniors. Hence to get used to their accent and the speed you should always listen to the cassettes, CDs in which the conversations are spoken by the native Japanese people only. This practice in return will help you to understand the conversations correctly in the JLPT exams. Even if you have few tapes keep listening to them again and again. Also try and get the previous year’s JLPT exam paper and solve the chyokai section of them. This is the only way which is present to prepare for the listening section of the exams.

The last section which is the dokkai section checks the proficiency of both reading and grammar. Preparation for reading is necessary because you should be very fast and at the same time should understand the context correctly. Hence every day reading at least for 45 minutes is compulsory. You will realize that in the starting days you will take a long time to read and understand the given passage. However if you practice every day in a matter of few days you will be able to read a passage of the same length and difficulty in a very short span of time.
The best way of grammar preparation is to first understand the sentence pattern properly and then make as many examples of your own as possible. While writing the examples try using as much vocabulary you can. Also write the word in kanji wherever it should be written. Read the sentence patterns for at least an hour every day.
Get more guidelines which can help you prepare for the JLPT exam in a more organized and correct way. Best of luck to all of you for the preparation as well as for the exam.

Japanese Verbs | Verbs as we all know are "action words"

A person who wants to learn Japanese as a foreign language has to first start with the Japanese script. Japanese language consists of three different scripts namely hiragana, katakana and kanji. All the three scripts are used in written Japanese. Kanji is the pictorial script which has many characters to be learnt. Hiragana is mostly used to write words consisting of nouns, adverbs, adjective, particles and verbs. Katakana is used to words which do not have its origin in Japan but are adopted from foreign countries and are used by Japanese people.
The Japanese grammar is very different from English grammar. Though it is said that the Japanese grammar is a little difficult but it is very interesting to learn. After you have leant the basic grammar you are able to use them in your simple conversations. The best feeling for me was when I was able to form a grammatically correct and meaningful sentence and use it while talking with a Japanese person.
One of the very important aspects of Japanese grammar is the Japanese verbs. Like any other language the Japanese verbs also have different tenses like present, past, future, present negative and past negative. One important thing about the Japanese verbs is that the present and future tenses are the same in Japanese language. The Japanese verbs are divided into three different groups. These three groups are further divided into different forms of the verbs. It is very essential to study each of these forms very carefully. In addition you should have the proper knowledge of the method of changing the verbs into different forms. To form a grammatically correct and meaningful sentence it is very important to know which form of the verb should be used to convey the accurate meaning. Depending upon which form of the verb is used in the sentence the meaning of the sentence changes. But remember one thing that even if the verbs have different forms they are not at all confusing. Also, the method of changing these verbs is attention-grabbing. So I would say that get a command on the Japanese grammar to speak this language fluently.
When the native Japanese people come to know that you are learning Japanese at that time you should see their extent of happiness and the amount of excitement they have. They feel very proud of you and appreciate your efforts a lot. The Japanese people are very helpful and are always ready to guide you in improving your Japanese language skills.
